Equip - To correctly install Cable Economisers please read the following instructions carefully.





Two CAT5E Cable Economisers are required, one must be connected to a Patch Panel or Router and another one attached to the network wall box outlet.



The Cat5e Economisers, must be used in pairs, one at each end of a cable run, they will not work any other way. If only one Economiser is used, only one port will work.



The Economisers when fitted correctly 'split' the main data cable into two halves or channels, in effect this makes two cables. The signal is carried from two ports in the patch panel or router, through the first economiser, along the two channels of the main cable and into the second economiser. The second Economiser can be connected to the Wall outlet or can simply be left connected to the end of the main Data cable.



This works because a data cable has 4 pairs of wires but only 2 pairs are needed to transfer data.

The economisers split the data cable into two so that a second port can be created without having to lay a second cable run.



They are intended for Data transmission only. They will not work for Voice (telephones).

It is not possible to use one of these to split an Internet connection. They do not work with Ethernet over Power adapters.



You must have 2 available ports in your patch panel or router. If all ports are in use or your Router has only a single port), it is possible to expand the number of ports by adding an Ethernet switch.



Cable Economisers cannot be connected to a Modem.



In addition to the two Economisers you will also need:

2 x short RJ45 patch leads to connect into your patch panel or Router

2 x RJ45 Couplers. (One for each end of the main Data cable to connect it to the Economisers).
